Mrs. Patricia Mae Ward Poynter, 71, of Richmond, passed away on Friday, March 14, at Baptist Health – Richmond.
Pat was born at the Pope Hospital in Richmond, on May 7, 1953, the daughter of the late Shelby & Vina Webb Ward. She was a dedicated employee of Gordon & Salter Chartered where she worked for over 30 years before moving on to working at Model in the cafeteria. Pat enjoyed playing bingo, was an avid UK Basketball fan, going shopping (especially Christmas shopping, often starting in January), took country rides with Jerry & Bullett, and going on family vacations and visited Amish country.
Survivors include: her husband of 48 years, Jerry Poynter; her children, Jamie Sebastian (Jason), Amie Speakman (Freddie), Chris Rose (Susan), Michelle Poynter (Eric), Jerry Poynter, James Huggins, and her dog Bullett who she considered her child; her brothers, Bailey Ward & Lonnie “PeeWee” Ward (Faye); one sister, Rosella Huggins; many grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, special friends, Angela Rhodus & Juanita Miller and a host of extended family and friend.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her dad, Richard B. Clines; her daughter, Tonia Brandenburg Ross; her sisters, Mrytle Marie Ward, and Norma “Jean” Jewell; one brother, Ronnie Ward; and one sister-in-law, Darlane Ward; and very dear friends, Marie Ward, Sue Williams, Sheryl Munday, and Jane Gordon.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, W. Main St., Richmond, with Rev. Dale Payne and Madison Diaz officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home. Combs Parsons and Collins.
Pallbearers will be: Eric Delaney, Jerry Poynter, Brayden Kindred, Ronnie Bowen, Keshaun Carney, Brentley Cox, Phillip Kirby and Justin Brandenburg.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Bailey Ward, Melvin Diaz, Steve Rhodus, Jason Stepp, and Joseph Brandenburg.
