Ruby Morgan,85, beloved wife, mother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on March 17, in Berea. Born on June 24, 1939, in Madison County, Ruby spent her life radiating kindness and warmth to all around her.
She was predeceased by her parents, Daniel and Carolyn Eden Richmond, and her siblings, Charles Richmond, Frances Lassila, Mildred Jordan, Donna Williams, Kathleen Rodgers, Roger Richmond, Danny Richmond, Jr., and Betty Isaacs. Ruby's memory is treasured by her devoted husband, Carl “Sonny” Morgan, her loving son, Timothy Morgan, and his wife Cheri, as well as her brothers-in-law, Ed Rodgers and Al Williams. Her spirit lives on through her many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends whose lives she touched.
Ruby retired from the Fayette Urban County Government, dedicating years of service that reflected her commitment to her community. A faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, she found joy in fellowship and service. Ruby Morgan will be dearly missed, but her legacy of love and grace will forever be imprinted on the hearts of those who knew her.
Her hobbies and passions were a true reflection of her vibrant spirit. Ruby found joy in accompanying her husband Sonny on his musical journeys, creating a wealth of cherished memories. In the solace of her garden, among the blooms, she cultivated beauty just as she did in life. Ruby's needlepoint and crocheting were not only a testament to her skilled hands as well to her patience and attention to detail. Coming together with friends at the Senior Citizens Center was among the highlights of her week, a place where her laughter and stories will be dearly missed.
It was not just Ruby's hobbies that made her special, for she was also renowned for her great recipes. Her peanut butter fudge and peanut brittle became legendary amongst loved ones, and the joy she found in experimenting with new recipes brought warmth to many a family gathering.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, March 20, at Lakes Funeral Home with Pastor Joey Kays officiating. Burial will follow in the Madison County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
