Scharme Ann Brunner Price

Posted

On February 7, 2024, Scharme Ann Brunner Price (age 65), of Berea passed away at home. She was in the presence of her husband, children, and faithful dog.

Scharme’s curiosity and adventurous spirit led her to adventures including traveling extensively, zoo and museum excursions, chaperoning school, and Berea Festival Dancer trips, eating at local restaurants, hiking at state parks, and discovering a treasure trove of Kentucky history. She brought each of these experiences to life through her incredible storytelling.

A true creator, Scharme transformed everyday life into art. Seamstress, gardener, photographer, and editor; she was all these things and more. Crafting and design ran deep in her veins. Her epic party-hostess skills were shared with kids and adults alike - oh, the birthday cakes!

Everything she embodied could not be contained to her own home and family. She let her gifts and passions expand beyond herself and into the community of Berea and those who traveled here. She volunteered to make costumes and sets for plays and created the decorations for multiple Berea Arts Council events. Scharme’s home was always warm and inviting and served as a second home for many. She hosted exchange students, prepared teen lunches for Christmas Country Dance School, and always, always, always pleasantly answered phone calls.

There’s too much to say, between her burning food, inserting a quick punny joke into a conversation, or being the one who knew what was going on, how to get it done, how to get there, when to arrive and when to call it a night- and in true Scharme fashion she knew when to sneak off this earth: quietly, peacefully, and in her words “ready”.
