Mr. Ted M. Rose, 83, of Richmond, the widower of Dorthie Isaacs Rose, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, at Baptist Health – Lexington.

He was born at home in the Kingston Community of Madison County on October 30, 1941, the son of the late Stanley & Myrtle Ruble Rose. At the age of nine, Ted’s mother passed away and several months later, Ted hitchhiked to the home of his sister, Margie, who became his “second mother” and helped raise him with her family who referred to him as their “uncle-brother”. Ted was a proud US Army Veteran and a retired employee of the TRANE Company in Lexington where he was a supervisor. Going golfing and playing the guitar were some of his favorite pastimes, and his family affectionately called him their own Elvis. He was a long-time member of the Kirksville Baptist Church.

Survivors include: one sister, Margie Grant; one brother, Paul Rose; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and a host of other extended family and friends.

In addition to his wife, and parents, Ted was preceded in death by: two brothers, Orville “Oddie” Rose, and Stanley Rose, Jr.; as well as one sister, Kathleen Howard.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 17, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, W. Main St., Richmond, with Bro. Butch Pennington & Bro. Dennis Hisle officiating. Burial will follow at the Manse Cemetery in Paint Lick with full military honors.

Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Monday, at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be: Jimmy Preston, Donald Barrett, Chan Combs, Cecil Grant, Jr., Danny Grant, Steve Morgan, Steve Winkler, Rickey Howard, and Jeff Rose.

Honorary Pallbearers will be all of his nieces and nephews.
