Travis Clay French

Posted

Travis Clay French, 48, of Paint Lick, Kentucky, entered into his heavenly home on August 17, 2026.
Travis was a devoted husband to his wife, Amy, for 27 years and a loving father to his three children, Hannah Brook, Hadley Caroline, and Hayden Randall, who were his entire world.

Travis began his career at Hicks Lumber and later went on to manage his family’s convenience store, Quick Stop, in Junction City. He also spent his days managing and maintaining his family’s rental properties.

Travis had a lifelong love for racing. Whether it was countless weekends cheering on his favorite driver at the dirt track or spending time with his friends and family at the kart track, racing was a special part of his life. On Saturdays, you could often find Travis in the Red Lot, tailgating and cheering on his beloved Kentucky Wildcats. He loved being surrounded by family and friends, and some of his happiest times were simply spent enjoying the people he loved most.

Travis was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Earl and Bernice Cates; his paternal grandparents, James Ellis and Nola Beatrice French; and his father-in-law, Jeff Baugh.
In addition to his wife and their three children, Travis leaves behind his loving parents, Randall and Judy French; his sister, Monica (Carey) Crutcher; Ronnie Hughes; his nephew, Noah (Taylor) Hughes; his nieces, Abby (Koty) Hughes and Harper Crutcher; his mother-in-law, Carolyn Baugh; and brother-in-law Aaron (Amy) Baugh. He is also survived by several extended family members and many dear friends who will forever cherish the memories they shared with him.

Travis will be remembered most for his faith in God, the love he had for his family and friends, the life he built with Amy, and the pride and joy he found in his children. Whether at a racetrack, a Wildcats tailgate, or simply spending time with those closest to him, Travis made memories that will be treasured for years to come. His presence will be deeply missed, but the love, laughter, and memories he leaves behind will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Hughes, Noah Hughes, Koty Roberts, Chris Causey, John Wooten, Jonah Wooten, Josh Curtis, and Mark Sandlin.
Honorary pallbearers will be Rick Bowlin, Dan Ball, Sam Fothergill, Brent Causey, Aaron Baugh, Chris Muncy, Bobby Foster, Mike Estes, Michael Moore, Wayne Lainhart, Paul Renner, Clifton Scully, Zach Morgeson, and the Sidewinder Dad Club.
Visitation will be held at Berea Baptist Church Thursday, August 20, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 21, at 11:00 a.m. also at Berea Baptist Church, with Shelby Cates and Andy Northern officiating. Services will be livestreamed at www.lakesfuneralhome.com.

In honor of Travis and his love for the Kentucky Wildcats, the family would love for everyone to join Travis in wearing their UK blue.
