William Harrison "Jack" Farmer, 94, of Berea, Kentucky, passed away on July 23, 2026, at Baptist Health Richmond.
Born on June 11, 1932, in Wyco, West Virginia, Jack grew up in Lynch, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Granville Farmer and Wanda Grubb Farmer. He was a graduate of Berea College, earning a bachelor's degree with a double major in mathematics and physics, and later received his master's degree from the University of Kentucky. Jack retired as a Plant Engineer for 35 years with Parker Seal.
Jack was a devoted husband to his “favorite” wife of 72 years, Violet "Vi" Johnson Farmer. He was a faithful member of Westside Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir for many years. He was a Past Master of Kingston Lodge #315 F&AM, a former Berea City Councilman, and served on the Planning and Zoning Commission.
Jack enjoyed working with his hands and could fix almost anything. He loved carpentry, wiring houses, farming cattle, making hay, fishing, and traveling. He visited 49 of 50 states as well as Canada, Mexico, Japan, and China.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Mike (Cindy) Farmer of Berea and Jeff (Donna Jenkins) Farmer of Berea; his brother, James Roger (Rhonda) Farmer of Conway, South Carolina; his sister, Marcella Hawkins of Northeast, Maryland; his granddaughters, Leslie Lilly and Sarah Steele (Sean Morgan); his great-grandson, Aiden Lilly; his daughter-in-law, Lorene Napier Farmer; and several nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Stephen Farmer, and his brother Jerry Farmer.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 27, 2026, at Davis & Powell Funeral Home with Rev. Alan Livingood officiating. Pallbearers will be Aiden Lilly, David Sayer, Joey Howard, Mark Howard, David Hall, Charlie Wyatt, Steve Ponder, Ben Johnson, Quentin Elam, George Parrett and Scott Ackers. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Masonic rites will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Jack will be remembered for his faith, his servant's heart, his willingness to help others, and the love he shared with his family and friends.
