Sally Therese Broessel
November 06, 2024
Sally Therese Broessel (Eriksen) left this world suddenly on October 30, 2024. Born November 19, 1946, in Spencer, Iowa, to the late Agdrup and Francis Eriksen (Steiner), Sally grew up surrounded by the nurturing love of a large and vibrant family.
Sally's early years in Spencer were filled with the joys of family life with her siblings—Stephen, Carol, Michael, Joseph William, Mary Kay, Susan, and Lori—and a host of cousins who shared countless adventures. Her family's love and support were constants throughout her life, as she cherished every moment spent with them.
Sally pursued her passion for helping others by studying nursing, a field in which she would spend her entire professional career. Her work in various rehabilitation centers was not just a job but a calling, as she touched the lives of many with her skillful care and boundless empathy. Her colleagues and patients alike will remember her as a guiding light, always ready with a comforting word and a gentle touch. Sally was a strong advocate for Grandparent rights and parents who are alienated from their children.
Sally's love for life extended beyond her professional endeavors. She was a woman whose heart belonged to the water. From her early days as a swimmer, adorned with medals and trophies, to her leisurely pursuits of rafting, canoeing, boating, and skiing, Sally was happiest when she was enjoying lakes and rivers, dancing (especially line dancing) and riding horses.
Those who knew Sally would describe her as faith-filled, a woman whose spiritual depth was the cornerstone of her existence. She approached life with a kind and passionate soul, always ready to extend a helping hand. Her presence was a comfort, her laughter a melody, and her spirit an inspiration. Sally's "church family" was a very important part of her life.
As we bid farewell to Sally, we are comforted by the memories she leaves behind and her unwavering faith. She is survived by her daughter Dawn Williams and son Rob Williams (Vera) and her siblings, Mary Kay Talbott (Richard) and Susan Eriksen-Knorre (Fred). Sally was preceded in death by her son Mark Williams as well as siblings Stephen Eriksen, Carol Saltz (Homer), Michael Eriksen (Linda), Joseph William Eriksen, and Lori Eriksen. Sally is also survived by her two cherished granddaughters, Morgan and Miranda and her many nieces and nephews: Todd (Margie), Tammy, Trent, Toni Heisler, Terry, Scott Saltz, Kelly Brinkman (Jeff), Darrin, John, Joseph (Ann), Virginia Luna (Mark), Samuel, Peter (Trisha), Adam (Maria), Tracy Wilson, Shelly Engler, Lynnette Eriksen, Steven Engler, and Barbara Snyder (Brian). As we reflect on Sally's life, we are reminded to live fully, love deeply, and dance to the beat of our own drums, just as she did. Sally will be profoundly missed, but the ripples of her life will continue to spread, touching all who had the privilege of knowing her.
"Remember me with smiles and laughter, for that's the way I'll remember you all." Laura Ingalls Wilder
