Clay County man dies after trying to flee flooded vehicle

A Clay County man died Saturday after being swept away by floodwaters while trying to escape from his vehcile.

According to the Manchester Enterprise, at 8:40 p.m. p.m. Satruday, According to Clay County Coroner Jason Abner, Clay County 911 Dispatch contacted the Clay County Corner's office at 5:25 p.m. on Saturday.. The office responded on Highway 80 to 73-year-old Donald Keith Nicholson of Manchester. 
Apparently, Nicholson was driving through floodwaters and was unable to cross. He exited the vehicle and was swept away by heavy currents several hundred feet from his truck. The Clay County Corner office announced him deceased at 7:30 p.m.
