Officer involved in shooting, released from hospital and recovering at home

The officer involved in a shooting this morning in the parking lot at Wal-Mart has been released from the hospital and is recovering at home.
"We would like to sincerely thank everyone in the community who has reached out with well wishes and prayers for the officer that was injured today," The Berea Police Department said in a social media post. "We have a great community, and we are extremely grateful for the support you show us."
The BPD officer was injured and two others were hurt following an officer-involved shooting in the parking lot at Berea Wal-Mart early Tuesday morning.
According to the Berea Police Department and the Kentucky State Police, the initial investigation indicated that BPD responded to Walmart in Berea to investigate a stolen vehicle. When officers attempted to make contact with the driver, he placed the car in reverse and struck an officer, pinning him between two vehicles. The officer discharged his service weapon into the vehicle. One officer and two of the suspects were transported to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
According to Berea Police, there is no active threat to the community, and all involved are in custody. As standard practice and procedure, the Kentucky State Police is investigating the shooting.
