Larry Brock appointed Madison County Jailer
December 30, 2024
Madison County Judge/Executive Reagan Taylor has announced the appointment of Larry Brock as the new jailer for Madison County. Brock will assume the role effective Jan. 1, following the retirement of current Jailer Steve Tussey, who has dedicated the past six years to the county and will officially step down as of Dec. 31 after announcing his retirement earlier this month.
“Steve Tussey has been committed to the Madison County Detention Center for the past six years and his contributions to our community will not be forgotten,” said Judge/Executive
Reagan Taylor. “As we look to the future, I am confident that Larry Brock’s extensive experience and dedication to public service and leadership make him the ideal candidate to
continue the critical work of the Detention Center. “I have the utmost faith in Mr. Brock’s abilities. He has the administrative and law enforcement experience necessary to run the jail
properly until the next election,” said Taylor.
Larry Brock, a long-time resident of Madison County, brings a wealth of experience in law enforcement, corrections and public service including nine years as the City of Richmond Chief of Police, where he left in 2017 to serve on the State Parole Board. In addition, Brock served in a variety of roles at the Federal level, including the United States military police, military detention system and ATF prior to returning to Richmond. Brock has remained involved and committed to the community in recent years with his commitment to Richmond Rotary and NAACP. In every position and challenge he has taken on, he has been an advocate for bringing strong leadership and enhancing operations; he will bring that same dedication to this appointment while focusing on policies and procedures, prioritizing inmate rehabilitation, and strong operations as well as fostering collaboration between the jail and local agencies.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve Madison County in this capacity,” said Brock. “I look forward to building upon the foundation established by Jailer Tussey and working alongside the incredible team at the Detention Center to ensure the safety and well-being of our community.”
The Madison County Fiscal Court expresses its gratitude to Jailer Tussey for his dedication and service, and it looks forward to welcoming Jailer-Appointee Brock as he takes on this important role.
